Situated on the coast in Palm Beach County, the community of North Palm Beach is known for its golfing and boating, with almost half the homes enjoying a waterfront or canal front location.
Originally the land was purchased by Harry Seymour Kelsey and sold to gold mine owner, Sir Harry Oakes. He built a grand castle-like home on US1, which later became the clubhouse for the original golf course.
The unincorporated village was planned and developed by entrepreneur John D. MacArthur of Palm Beach Gardens fame. It dates back to 1956 when it was awarded “Best Planned Community” by the National Association of Home Builders, and it’s not hard to see why.
This pristine community has several beautiful golf courses including North Palm Beach Country Club which was re-designed by Jack Nicklaus in 52006. He clearly loves the area as he not only owns a home in North Palm Beach, but also provided his valuable signature golf course design to the city for just $1. Not surprisingly the course has been tipped by Golf America as one of the best layouts in the USA.
Although much of South Florida is a mecca for winter snowbirds, upscale North Palm Beach retains a stable year-round community with strong family values and good schools. It has excellent Public Safety Services including a well-respected Police Force, Fire Departments and a top-rated Emergency Medical Service.
Activities and Amenities in North Palm Beach
The village of North Palm Beach enjoys a sunny year-round climate with balmy sea breezes. It is ideal for the outdoor lifestyle provided by the North Palm Beach Country Club, one of only two Nicklaus-designed municipal golf courses in the USA, with a links-style design.
The Signature Country Club Golf Course is located in a gorgeous setting beside the Intracoastal Waterway, another source of outdoor leisure pursuits for keen boaters and yachtsmen living in the village. In fact, visitors will notice that the village uses a ship’s wheel as its logo and has many streets with nautically themed names such as Lighthouse Drive, Flotilla Lane and Anchorage Drive.
North Palm Beach takes in parts of the Fort Worth Lagoon and Singer Island. It also includes the John D. MacArthur State Park, named after the dynamic local area developer. The high proportion of waterfront properties has undoubtedly helped North Palm Beach retain its property values. Buyers will find a broad range of real estate properties, from quaint neighborhoods to upscale villas and waterfront mansions.
This friendly village of around 13,000 residents enjoys a gorgeous sandy beach, an Olympic sized swimming pool, municipal tennis courts, a theater and Bridge and Chess Clubs. There are opportunities for everything from kayaking the peaceful backwaters to attending charity fundraising galas. The village has a modern strip mall anchored by Publix and some of the best restaurants in the area for memorable dining.
Nearby amenities include Gardens Mall, the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts and City Place Shopping in downtown West Palm Beach. Palm Beach International Airport is just 20 minutes away.
With so many recreational assets and beautiful homes, visitors will quickly see that North Palm Beach is “the best place under the sun” for enjoying an enviable resort lifestyle in a lively upscale community.
