Riverfront Living at its Best

Located just north of West Palm Beach, Tequesta is a beautiful village situated in a prime area of the Loxahatchee River. Though small in size compared to some of its neighbors (it’s only a little over 2 square miles in size, of which half a square mile is covered by water), it’s an increasingly popular home for people (including celebrities) looking to get away from big city life. Riverfront homes are hugely popular in the vicinity, which is why a large number of the 5,763 residents vie for such properties.

History of Tequesta

It was in 1955 that Charles Martyn was first asked about the piece of land that came to be known as Tequesta. It was only after Martyn actually toured the place he had described as a “jungle” that he realized its beauty. Though his primary interest lay in developing the Jupiter Inlet Colony, Martyn dug around in Tequesta, unearthing valuable Native American artifacts. It was there that he discovered that the Indian tribe of Tequesta had fought there and ultimately named the place after them. Originally known as the Tequesta Country Club, it is now known as the village of Tequesta.

Architecture in Tequesta

As with most areas in the county, the architecture of Tequesta is very modern in its designs and color schemes. It almost belies its status as a village since you can find impeccably designed condos and apartments along with vintage-style bungalows. The architecture of the village complements its overall look and feel without making the modern looking structures appear out of place.
